Volunteers

Why does the shop need volunteers?
Because without them it could not continue to trade.

What do they have to do?
They do whatever they are comfortable with.
Some volunteers run the shop unaided.
Some run it in conjunction with another volunteer.
Others assist another volunteer.
No-one is expected to use the till unless they want to do so.

Is there any training?
Training is available in a variety of subjects including customer service, lifting and handling, fire precautions and security as well as the normal functions in the shop.

What hours would I be expected to work?
Most volunteers do one or two, 2.5 or 3-hour, sessions in a week.

What happens if, sometimes, I can’t work on my allotted day?
Either you or the Manager will find another volunteer to fill your slot.

How do I become a volunteer?
Just telephone the shop on 01636 525009 and someone will be glad to help you.
